Emi Burns is a visual artist who lives and works in Seattle, WA. She was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and immigrated to Seattle in July 2018. She works in oil painting and mixed media drawings, expressing how her internal world synchronizes with the external environment. In her semi-figurative paintings, sensation, a free association of memories, symbols, feelings, things, and actions are intertwined through shapes and colors.
What lies deep within her paintings is the sense of impermanence and interconnection, which are the essence of Buddhism and have become significant to her in recent years. Especially since relocating to the US, the core focus of her artwork is to express how raw individuality is illuminated by diverse appreciation. Through her experience, Burns expands her artistic journey and intends to share that perception with audience.
