"The genesis of these works is my attraction to the sensuality and character of natural forms. Along with their obvious beauty, they have always seemed to me to embody something elemental, with which I feel a connection. I seek to express this in my work by combining and altering the forms, and constructing new environments which they inhabit. My work process involves photographing found objects and layering them digitally with drawing, painting, and other textures. The process is largely experimental and intuitive, and I am interested in the nature of what it reveals: themes of identity, fear, risk and relatedness.

Those themes for me connect directly with compassion: the vulnerability of being; the texture of the cloaks we wear as gestures toward connection or as protection; looking at surfaces, and looking beneath them, into tenderness."
